Blueprint for Environmental Literacy

Environmental literacy has never been more important as Californians take on and are affected by climate change, drought, overfishing, ocean acidification, nature deficit disorder, and the over-dependence on screen time for our young people. State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson convened the California Environmental Literacy Task Force in 2014 to create a Blueprint for Environmental Literacy for all California students. He recognizes that the critical environmental concerns that face California demand that we think deeply about how to build a future that is sustainable, healthy, prosperous, and equitable. This Blueprint will guide us in our strategies and initiatives to realize the ambitious goal of achieving environmental literacy for all California students.
